He is a cuddler, a greeter of guests, a champion napper and all around entertainer. He loves grownups, kids, other cats, dogs. From his beginnings as a terrified kitten hiding under an abandoned trailer, he has come totally out of his shell and is just a delight.
The students at Trinity Catholic School excel at the rigors of the classroom. But, the school is teaching more than academics. Last Spring, the students, under the direction of parent Kristen Kelly, began composting their waste from the cafeteria. This waste was brought to the Oswego West Side Community Garden.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau anticipates the availability of limited funding for youth development programs in 2017. Not-for-profit organizations have until Nov. 7 to apply for grant funds through the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
The Oswego County Office for the Aging has scheduled three public hearings to receive input on its proposed plan of services for seniors during the period beginning April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.

As Oswego County continues to focus on providing a healthy environment for its citizens, the health community celebrates the success of the “Smoke Free for My Baby and Me” program. The initiative was developed by a diligent network of community partners. It is aimed at helping pregnant women successfully quit smoking through clinic-based best practices, peer support, monitoring, and incentives such as free diapers.
The State Comptroller’s Office recently released an audit of the Oswego City School District. The purpose of the audit was to review the district’s financial condition and nonresident tuition for foster students for the period July 1, 2014 through December 31, 2015. Among the findings: The district doesn’t have an effective process to identify all nonresident foster students receiving educational services and bill their school districts for those services. The district didn’t bill and collect about $237,000 in reimbursement for students. The district is taking corrective action.
