The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team remained perfect on the year with a 6-0 victory over Chatham University on Saturday afternoon at the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the win, Oswego improves to 4-0-0 on the year and 2-0-0 in the ECAC Women’s West.
A few years ago former Fulton Speedway competitor Joe Buske, and his family came up with the idea to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network that is very near and dear to them. They chose the Fulton Speedway to put their idea in motion. Through the kindness and generosity of the great fans and race teams at the Fulton Speedway over the years, by the end of the 2016 racing season more than $20,000 has been raised for the Children’s Miracle Network.
Anne Delores Bolton, 89, formerly of Fulton, NY, passed away peacefully in Jenson Beach, Fla. Burial was held privately in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
As finishing my second year as intern for United Way’s Stone Soup Luncheon, I would like to extend a personal thank you to all volunteers, sponsors and attendees who offered their support to the Annual Stone Soup Luncheon hosted by St. Joseph’s Parish in Oswego. Seeing so many community members, students, and volunteers come together to support a cause was once again an amazing experience.
Students, staff and parents were given a guided wagon tour of the apple orchard, followed by apple picking and a tour of the farm. Each visitor was given a bag to fill with apples that they hand-picked from the orchard.
The former Nestles site that has stood in Fulton for more than a century has seen another demolition milestone as the overpass connecting buildings on opposite sides of Fay Street has been removed. “I’ve walked miles over that ramp,” said former Nestles employee, Joanne Weaver.
When John and I were in St. Germain a friend suggested we go to the Tea Academy at Green Rich Tea while our husbands went to the St. Germain Snowmobile Museum to learn about the history of snowmobiling and see a variety of snow vehicles. Great idea. I thought I should be able to shine at a tea academy because I had been to Tea Appreciation Class in Hong Kong, a tea museum in Taiwan, and had visited tea plantations in Taiwan and Sri Lanka. I was wrong.
On Friday, State Police responded to a reported armed robbery in progress at the Parish Hardware store located at 2695 E. Main St., in the village of Parish. The investigation revealed a man had entered the store, walked up to a cashier and demanded money from the cash drawer. The clerk stated he refused to give the suspect the money after noticing the suspect was holding a toy gun.
