An annual event, the baby shower was spearheaded by the OCBC, an organization consisting of representatives from Oswego County Opportunities WIC Program, Oswego Health, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, Integrated Community Planning, REACH CNY, Oswego County Health Department, the Pregnancy Care Center and community members that strive to promote and support breastfeeding families.
“United Way’s ‘Day of Caring’ is a nationwide event,” explained Ali McGrath, resource development director for United Way of Greater Oswego County. “We haven’t had a ‘Day of Caring’ of this size in several years. I’ve wanted to do one ever since I joined United Way as an intern. Now, thanks to Rich Burritt, it was able to happen. It was amazing to see it finally come together!”
The Common Council took steps Monday night to enhance cell phone coverage in the Port City. A trio of public hearings was held Monday night regarding the placement of three Verizon Wireless Telecommunications facilities. No resident spoke in opposition to the proposals at the public hearings. The council voted 6-0-1 to approve.

At age 25, Kayli and Joe Maxam are the youngest homeowners taking part in this year’s Fulton Block Builder project. That’s if we don’t count their daughter McKinley – age 10 months! They have been thinking about painting their house but didn’t plan on doing it this year. “We were only going to put in the new fence and paint the deck, but this project made it possible for us to do more. We love the historical colors the only hard thing was having to wait to spread new mulch until all of the painting was done,” smiled Kayli.

Tony Monaco, the Hammond B3 Organ “Monster,” returns to headline The Fulton Jazz Festival, August 10, 11 and 12, it was announced by festival President Joe Cortini. The event is on the shore of Lake Neatahwanta, behind the Fulton War Memorial on Route 3 and admission is free.
