Preparations are shaping up for the second annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Classic Golf Tournament on August 12, at Battle Island State Park Golf Course, 2150 State Route 48, Fulton. Golfers from throughout Oswego County and beyond are invited to register teams for a day of fun and fellowship that will help neighbors in need.
The first workshop, which is being co-hosted by Senator Patty Ritchie, Assemblyman Will Barclay and Neighbors of Watertown will take place on July 19 at the Sandy Pond Sportsmen’s Association (3201 County Route 15, Pulaski) at 6:30 p.m.

Marjorie K. Naioti, 92, of Fulton passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord early Saturday morning July 15, 2017.
Through a donation from the Fulton SUNOCO Ethanol plant, the FFD was able to purchase a new fire fighting vent saw, rechargeable hand lights and a new set of Iron’s (axe/halligan) all to be placed on the departments newly acquired 1998 Pierce 100′ Platform ladder truck.

Crazy Horse’s real name was “His-horse-is-crazy.” He was the leader of the Oglala Lakotas and led a group of likeminded Native Americans in a fight against the United States government protesting the government’s encroachments on their land and the effect it was having on the culture of the Lakota people. He and his followers finally surrendered to U.S. troops and Crazy Horse was imprisoned at Fort Robinson. On September 5, 1877, Crazy Horse was bayonetted to death by a guard who said he was trying to escape.

The official grand re-opening of the Fulton Save-A-Lot store under new ownership drew a large crowd to showcase the store’s many updates. “It’s cleaner, brighter, our produce section has been updated and expanded. Now when you walk in, it just kind of jumps out at you,” said new owner and Fulton native Jim Mirabito, whose family is well known in the grocery business. Jim, acquiring ownership alongside his wife, Cindy and daughter, Whitney, have made several changes to the store that improve the customer experience. Though the Fulton Save-A-Lot store is a new venture for the Mirabito family, the grocery business is an utterly familiar part of their lives.
The Mount Pleasant Grange #349 monthly waffle breakfast will be held Saturday July15, from 7:30 to 11 a.m. This month’s topping is blueberries.
