The Institute of International Education selected Dr. Joshua McKeown of SUNY Oswego to mentor physician-educator Dr. Myint Oo from the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar (also known as Burma) during an intensive 20-week course designed to build skills for developing and managing an international education office.
Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center enjoyed a lively afternoon as they participated in Morningstar’s first Movin’ and Groovin’ session in the facility’s Great Room. Residents played a variety of percussion instruments and sang along to some of their favorite tunes.
Several area students have reserved places among 1,400 freshmen at SUNY Oswego. Fall 2017 classes will begin Aug. 28.

The Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St., will hold a used books, movies (VHS) and audiobooks sale on August 11 and 12. The hours will be from noon until 3 p.m. in the community room located on the lower level of the library.

Adults age 65 or older will find a new social setting available in Fulton through Oswego County’s first social adult day care program, The Cornerstone Club as part of St. Luke’s Family of Caring. Located at 808 W. Broadway Suite A, The Cornerstone Club anticipates opening on August 14 pending completed final phases of construction. The Cornerstone Club will offer socialization opportunities, supervision, daily activities, and health and nutrition monitoring to any senior over the age of 65-years-old suffering from a physical or cognitive impairment on a case-by-case basis.
The Oswego County Health Department announced today (Aug. 3) that Eastern equine encephalitis virus was detected in bird-biting mosquitoes collected last week near the Toad Harbor Swamp in the town of Constantia. Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said the county health department is working closely with the New York State Department of Health to monitor EEE virus activity in Oswego County.
