Arlene S. Chesbro, 80, of Fulton, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday August 2, 2017.
Today (Aug. 3), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security released its Northern Border Threat Assessment. The issuance of this report was the direct result of legislation introduced by U.S. Rep. John Katko that was signed into law last year, the Northern Border Security Review Act. Katko’s measure required the Department of Homeland Security to conduct a much-needed analysis of current and potential threats along our nation’s northern border.

SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery has embarked on a celebration of the life and work of the late art faculty member Judith Ann Benedict with an exhibition through Sept. 17 and a live auction Aug. 19 to raise funds for a scholarship in her name. The free public reception for “Judith Ann Benedict: An Illustrated life” will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 19; the auction will run from 3 to 5 p.m. The art department is conducting a pre-auction sale, and also plans to podcast the auction, with email bidding available at [email protected].
Mike Cummings, of Hannibal, was the owner of the winning duck in Hannibal Dollars for Scholars annual “Ducks Over the Dam” race. A total of 63 additional prizes, donated by local businesses, were awarded to race participants. Hannibal Dollars for Scholars provides scholarships to graduates of Hannibal High School each year.
Medieval times will come alive at the Fairy Tale Faire presented by the Oswego Players on August 26 from 1-3 p.m. The faire will be set up on the lawn to the north of the Oswego Civic Arts Center at Fort Ontario.
