‘Truthiness’ At Issue In 29th Annual Steinkraus Lecture at SUNY Oswego

The SUNY Oswego philosophy department’s 2017 Warren Steinkraus Lecture on Human Ideals will feature Dr. J.D. Trout, author of the book “Wondrous Truths: The Improbable Triumph of Modern Science,” at 4 p.m. Oct. 19, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium. Trout’s lecture, “Explanation, Truthiness and the False Climb to Knowledge,” is free and open to the public.

Accomplished Oboist Nancy Ambrose King To Kick Off Ke-Nekt Series

Award winning oboist Nancy Ambrose King will launch the 2017-18 SUNY Oswego Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18, in Sheldon Hall Ballroom. Accomplished wind instrumentalist Trevor Jorgensen of the SUNY Oswego music faculty will host the visiting artist. Jorgensen will speak with King during a pre-concert talk and question-and-answer session at 7 p.m.

APW Lady Rebels ‘Dig for Gold’ to Benefit Childhood Cancer Research

In an effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior /Senior High School Lady Rebels volleyball team will “Dig for Gold” on October 12 at the junior varsity and varsity games at the school in Parish. “Dig for Gold” will benefit childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
