The holidays are a time in which families reunite over a meal and catch up on what has happened since the last gathering. Whether it is for family, friends or even just the good food, Thanksgiving is traditionally a time to remember things could be a lot worse and it is important to always be grateful for what you have.
Staff and parent volunteers served up turkey, potatoes, vegetables and other Thanksgiving fare to eager children, some in Thanksgiving costumes and their families amidst festive decorations and table centerpieces. Fitzhugh Park leaders say the event is a great way to help “build the home and school connection.”
The Oswego Opera will hold auditions for the upcoming production of Brundibár, a children’s opera. Children of all ages are invited. The auditions will take place on December 2, from noon to 4 p.m. in Tyler Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus, room 50.
Ancient Indian Science, a lecture by Professor Alok Kumar, will be presented on November 29 at 3:20 p.m. in Shineman Hall, room 175 at SUNY Oswego. As part of the Institute for Global Engagement’s Year of India (https://www.oswego.edu/institute-for-global-engagement/events), Dr. Alok Kumar will present the lecture.
Emerson J. Dillon Middle School classrooms transformed into a job fair during a career exploration event today ( Nov. 16). Phoenix students in fifth through eighth grades had the opportunity to attend three separate career day sessions where they met with employees and experts from a variety of fields.

This bill provides tax giveaways to millionaires, billionaires, and large corporations on the backs of millions of working families.” said Dana Balter.
State Senator Patty Ritchie announced that she secured $16,000 in funding for school districts in Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties that will improve the safety of students traveling to school and back home. That includes Fulton City School District: $5,000.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Following passage in the U.S. House of Representatives today (Nov. 16) of the Tax Cut and Jobs Act, U.S. Rep. John Katko released the following statement: “Since I first began running for Congress, I’ve advocated for comprehensive tax reform to ensure working families in Central New York can take home more of what they earn and to level the playing field so our local businesses can compete on the world stage. Today, I cast my vote in favor of a bill to start the process of making those promises a reality.
