Hannibal Transfer Station Will Close for Repairs on Nov. 6
The Oswego County Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 1167 County Route 7 in Hannibal will be closed for structural repairs from Monday, Nov. 6 through Monday, Dec. 18. The Oswego and Volney transfer stations will be open extra days while repairs are being made to the Hannibal facility.
Oswego AmeriCorps Positions Available
Oswego AmeriCorps recently welcomed a new class of AmeriCorps members pledging to “Get Things Done” for Oswego County. Members are still needed to fill current openings in several Oswego County communities. AmeriCorps members in Oswego County provide fitness and nutrition activities for youth and manage volunteers.
SUNY Oswego Alumnus To Speak About Work With Nobel-Winning Astrophysics Team
A SUNY Oswego alumnus who is part of the Nobel Prize-winning team studying gravitational waves in deep space will speak at his alma mater Friday, Nov. 10. Daniel Wysocki will present “Seeing with Gravity: A New Era in Astronomy” at 4 p.m. Nov. 10 in Room 175 of the Shineman Center as part of the college’s Science Today lecture series.
OFD Offers Some Halloween Safety Tips
According to Safe Kids Worldwide, on average, twice as many child pedestrians are killed while walking on Halloween compared to any other day of the year, and more than 70 percent of accidents occur away from an intersection or crosswalk. “These are scary statistics, but by taking a few simple precautions, you can ensure ghosts and goblins of all ages have a safe and fun-filled Halloween,” said Oswego Fire Chief Randy Griffin.
County Recognizes Lois O’Connor
The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee recognized Lois O’Connor for her 25 years of service to the county. O’Connor is a case worker at the Oswego County Department of Social Services.
