SUNY Oswego Alumnus To Speak About Work With Nobel-Winning Astrophysics Team

A SUNY Oswego alumnus who is part of the Nobel Prize-winning team studying gravitational waves in deep space will speak at his alma mater Friday, Nov. 10. Daniel Wysocki will present “Seeing with Gravity: A New Era in Astronomy” at 4 p.m. Nov. 10 in Room 175 of the Shineman Center as part of the college’s Science Today lecture series.

OFD Offers Some Halloween Safety Tips

According to Safe Kids Worldwide, on average, twice as many child pedestrians are killed while walking on Halloween compared to any other day of the year, and more than 70 percent of accidents occur away from an intersection or crosswalk. “These are scary statistics, but by taking a few simple precautions, you can ensure ghosts and goblins of all ages have a safe and fun-filled Halloween,” said Oswego Fire Chief Randy Griffin.

Laker Men’s Ice Hockey Scores Comeback Win

The nationally-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team opened its 2017-18 campaign with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Elmira College on Saturday (Oct. 28) night in the Marano Campus Center Arena. It was Oswego’s annual Teal Game, raising awareness in the fight against ovarian cancer and honoring the late Mary Gosek – wife of Laker head coach Ed Gosek.
