The Lake Ontario Event and Confrence Center, 26 E. First St., will host a St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research on Sunday, April 15. The event will start at noon and run to 3 p.m.
Beverly J. Sixberry, 85, of Palermo, passed away on Friday April 13, 2018, after a short illness.
The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations serving Pulaski or the town of Richland. The grant application deadline is May 15. Proposals are encouraged from a variety of program areas including education, health, social services, arts and culture, civic concerns, and preservation of historic resources.
The Oswego County Humane Society has launched the Fur Ball Photo Contest in conjunction with the actual Fur Ball to be held on April 28 at the American Foundry. Anyone can enter the contest by uploading a photo of their pet.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is pleased to present the first installment the 2018 History Lecture Series featuring Randy Marshall. Marshall will provide a brief presentation on the history of maritime art, and will also be displaying pieces from his own collection in the museum’s art gallery – some of which originated in Oswego.
The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Child Protection Advisory Council members, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, United Way of Greater Oswego County, Oswego County Opportunities, Oswego County Health Department, school districts and the Oswego County Department of Social Services have come together to be a part of the CAC’s Pinwheels for Prevention program.
“It seems like forever since we first came up with the idea that someone might like to have it on CD.” said Michael A. Bolio, the show’s composer. “There were some ups and downs and out right roadblocks in the process, but we made it through.”
During Yards for Yeardley, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, on the academic quad, SUNY Oswego students, faculty and staff and members of the community will walk to remember and to prevent domestic and dating violence on college campuses and communities. This is the third year in a row the campus has embraced this program brought to universities by the One Love Foundation.
Once again, at the conclusion of standard hot lap sessions each week, Supermodified and SBS competitors will take to the racing surface once again for their 15 minute long time trial session, which will still be held in ‘open pit’ format, allowing five to six cars on the track at a time.
