Fulton Students’ Artwork Showcased In Annual Show

Fulton City School District students painted pictures of perfection for the annual district-wide art show at the Fulton Education Center. Accompanied by friends and family members, students in grades kindergarten through 12 strolled through the building’s first floor where self portraits, beadwork, wood burning, pottery, drawings and a variety of other artwork were displayed.

Older adults planning to downsize their living arrangements or move to an apartment home now have another option if they want to bring their furry friend along – that’s because Bishop’s Commons in Oswego is now a “pet friendly” community. “We have seen an increase in the number of people who want to move and become a part of our Bishop’s Commons community and keep their pets with them,” said Julie Chetney, director of senior services.

Oswego School Budget Approved; Ciappa, Allen Elected

Voters approved the Oswego City School District’s budget for 2018-19 school year by an unofficial vote of 1,391 yes to 900 no. They also elected a newcomer, Tom Ciappa and former board president, Kathleen Allen earned the second open seat on the board of education. The top vote-getter, with an unofficial tally of 1,324, was Ciappa. He was followed by Allen with 854.

Fulton School Budget Approved by District Voters

Fulton City School District qualified voters showed up to vote on the district’s proposed 2018-2019 budget, three open seats on the board of education, and a proposition to approve the purchase of two passenger vans. Unofficial results show the $71,992,850 budget was approved by voters with 340 votes in favor and 142 against, several hundred fewer voters than the previous year. Two newcomers and one incumbent have secured three available seats on the district’s board of education.

Fox Tests Positive for Rabies in Sandy Creek

The Oswego County Health Department reported today (May 15) that a gray fox has tested positive for rabies in the town of Sandy Creek. This is the second rabid animal confirmed this year in Oswego County. It was reported last week that the fox attacked three people in the vicinity of Snyder Road and County Route 15. Those who were exposed are receiving post-contact rabies treatments.
