The troop spent a week in Washington, D.C. spending the week visiting the Vietnam Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, the Smithsonian, Holocaust Museum, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, the Museum of the American Indian, Air and Space Museum, the Pentagon and 9/11 Memorial, the Capital, White House and other sites.

New York is heavily dependent on volunteer fire departments for fire protection. According to the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York, 89% of the state’s fire departments outside of the New York City area are volunteer. Their commitment to volunteer fire protection provides both a critical life-savings service to communities and a tremendous cost savings to area taxpayers.

September 8's run highlighted Parents of Special Children. Leroy Collins is joined by Theresa Familo, director, and reps from Life Matters and POSC. Some friends heard about the runs and wanted to participate, Collins said. "They loved to run for that cause. I think there’s about 30 people that contacted me that heard about it and want to run in Mexico," he added.
