The Oswego County Office for the Aging (OFA) will be closed Monday, Aug. 28 for staff training. This includes regularly scheduled office hours in Parish. Meal delivery will remain open.

Oswego County Welcomes Public Input For Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

The Oswego County Emergency Management Office (EMO) invites the public to participate in community engagement workshops on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to provide input for the update of the Oswego County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The workshops will be held in-person and virtually.

There are few instances in recent memory that so profoundly illustrate what not to do when addressing a public policy crisis. From Joe Biden’s failures at the southern border, to the empty “sanctuary” promises of Gov. Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, to the lack of communication and transparency at all levels of government, New York’s migrant crisis shows no signs of slowing down. No part of this emergency was handled properly, and the coming months will almost certainly bring more challenges for local officials and communities.

Mayor Barlow Announces Grand Opening Event For Cahill Pier Wednesday August 16

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the City of Oswego will host a special grand opening event for the new William S. Cahill Pier on Wednesday, August 16. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting declaring the new pier officially open to the public followed by live music featuring The SkyCoasters. Th event is open to the public. Food trucks and drinks will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
