Elvis is in the Building at Memorial Day Salute

Throughout the years of the Memorial Day Salute, one entertainer that has not appeared on our stage is “Elvis.” Elvis Presley will appear in the Memorial Day parade, May 28, on his “Elvis Harley” and on the Community Center stage on Saturday, May 29, 2010 from 7-10 PM .

Elvis Presley was 42 years old when died in 1977, four years before the Fulton Memorial Day Salute began. Elvis is often referred as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “The King.”

Elvis Presley was also a veteran of the United States Army, being drafted in 1958 and serving until 1960, most of that time in Germany.

Presley is regarded as one of the most important figures of 20th-century popular culture. He had a versatile voice and unusually wide success encompassing many genres, including country, pop ballads, gospel, and blues. He is the best-selling solo artist in the history of popular music. Nominated for 14 competitive Grammys, he won three, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36. He has been inducted into four music halls of fame.

Standing in for Elvis will be Terry Buchwald. Nationally acclaimed Elvis tribute artist, Terrance Buchwald, is a professional vocalist, recording artist and entertainer.

Terry has earned the distinction of being named one of the top tribute artists in the United States by the Los Angeles Times. Terry has recorded four CD’s on Rhapsody Music Group, which include TCB, Big Hunk O’ Love, Home for Christmas, Good Rockin’ then and now. His CDs have hit the shelves of Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Media Play, Borders, and Barnes and Noble. Terry is the first New York recording artist to sell CDs in Wal-Mart stores, which have pushed his CD sales well over 35,000 units. His fans are anticipating the release of his fifth CD.

Performing throughout the world, Terry’s tribute show has taken him to many different countries as far away as Japan, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, the Bahamian Islands, and Germany. Nationally, Terry has traveled throughout the U.S., performing in over 40 states and many major cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York City.

He has performed as the opening act for numerous world renowned acts such as Lee Greenwood, Diamond Rio, Montgomery Gentry, and Rick Springfield, to name a few. Terry has performed for such celebrity functions as: Post Production Party for Disney’s 2005 CBS Elvis Mini-Series Emmy Award Cast Party for the TV show, Ally McBeal and The Practice, Make a Wish Foundation’s “An Evening with the Stars,” hosted by Kathy Lee Gifford, Hall of Fame NFL Quarterback Jim Kelly’s NFL/ESPN Retirement Party, New York City, and Boston Marathons, post-race parties, NFL Super Bowl Appearances, NHL All-Star Appearances. Terry’s national television appearances have included: Your Big Break, a Dick Clark production; Doc, a PAX TV hit sitcom starring Billy Ray Cyrus; U’s Place, a Fox Television children’s show; Variety Kids Telethon, of which he has been a national cast member for the past five years.

Most recently, Terry has been nominated National Spokesperson for the Guitar Centers of America. This achievement is taking him across the world to perform at all new store openings.
