Once again the Oswego Middle School student body, under the direction of the OMS Student Council, conducted its annual holiday non-perishable food drive. All of the items donated will be presented to Human Concerns of Oswego.
Members of the Oswego County Surrogate Court recently donated a number of Christmas gifts to Oswego County Opportunities for distribution to families in need that OCO serves.
Players and coaches from the Oswego Youth Soccer Association showed their concerns for others by participating in Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Adopt a Family program. The players and coaches recently visited Wal-Mart in Oswego to purchase presents for families in need in Oswego County.
The boys and girls in Ms. Storm’s second grade class at the Kingsford Park Elementary School chose to donate toys to needy children in the community. The students made the choice to give to others who may be less fortunate after reading the book Ready Freddy and the Perfect Present.
Residents of Fulton Mill Apartments in Fulton enjoyed a special visit from the youth in the Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s CYO Mentoring Program. CYO participants joined residents in creating Count Down to Christmas Chains.
The team members successfully conducted a hat and glove drive for the school. Winter wear was collected to be shared with children from throughout the community so that they will be warm in the frigid weather.
Members of the Oswego Minor Hockey Pee Wee Lake City Police Travel Team recently presented Catholic Charities of Oswego County with a donation for the agency’s food pantry as well as toys and food for the family the team adopted through Catholic Charities’ Adopt a Family program.
Spending will go down a little, but taxes will go up a little in the budget being proposed by Mayor Ron Woodward’s administration. Some big spending increases that are beyond the city’s control are being balanced by cuts to the public library, ambulance service and summer sidewalk repair.

Swimmers and hockey players brought home team victories in varsity competition while the modified volleyball team and Lady Buc jayvee cagers continue to win. Meanwhile, wrestlers have displayed some solid individual efforts while the Lady Buc hockey and basketball teams battle back.
