Following unanimous passage in the U.S. Senate this evening of The Fort Ontario Study Act, bipartisan, bicameral legislation introduced in the House by U.S. Rep. John Katko, the Congressman released the following statement: “Fort Ontario and Safe Haven National Refugee Shelter are treasures in our community, and testament to the important role of Central New York in our nation’s history. The Fort Ontario Study Act has been among my top priorities since coming to Congress in 2015,” said Katko.

An arrest has been made in reference to the previously reported death that occurred at 347 Brecheimer Road in the town of West Monroe on Monday. Investigator have charged 33-year-old Mathew R. LeBoeuf of County Route 84, Central Square, with one count of murder in the second degree and one count of Assault in the first degree.

Victim Identified
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the victim of an assault that occurred Monday at 347 Breckheimer Road, town of West Monroe. The deceased victim has been identified as Robert Diffin, 42, of 347 Breckheimer Road. At about 11:23 a.m. today (September 10), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were sent to 347 Breckheimer Road in West Monroe to assist emergency medical services. The victims were transported by Menter Ambulance to University Hospital At about 2:25 p.m., one of the victims was pronounced dead.

As the school year opens, SUNY Oswego is on track to enroll perhaps its largest, most diverse class ever of new first-year students. About 1,500 freshmen — the Class of 2022 — enrolled at Oswego, with more than 96 percent living on campus for the fall semester. More than 530 of these students self-identify from a historically underrepresented group, racially and culturally.

State Police said today (September 6) they have arrested Dylan Ackerman, 26, from Mexico, for Criminal Mischief 4th degree (A-misdemeanor), Criminal Tampering 3rd degree (B-misdemeanor) and Trespass (violation). On August 19, State Police responded to 3260 State Route 11 in the town of Mexico for a criminal mischief in progress complaint at the Mapleview Cemetery.

An 18-year-old Palermo man is in custody after leading police on a chase Monday through several side streets before crashing the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
