Fulton Public Library Gets New Life With ‘Yes’ Votes
Fulton’s Public Library has new life and refreshed hope for its community vitality as voters overwhelmingly cast yes ballots to support funding the institution, staffing its board and providing a platform for continuity.
Fulton Public Library Board of Trustees President Marian Stanton said, “I’m very delighted. It was nerve wracking but I’m so glad that we’ve done it and we’re on our way to giving a stable library to the city of Fulton. It’s very gratifying.”
Decked out in their dress blues, the men and women of Fulton’s police and fire departments, along with Menter Ambulance Service personnel were recognized Wednesday evening for the work they do each and every day of the year. “Out of an idea, an investment was made and a seed was planted that has grown to be what is now our 18th annual awards ceremony,” Acting Fire Chief Foster said.
Local Fulton grocers concerned about competing against a big retailer with deep pockets in an industry with already low profit margins spoke against granting special permit status to property on the city’s east side.
