Hospital spokespersons on both sides of the issue have confirmed that Oswego Health has submitted a proposal to A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in an effort to mitigate the Department of Health’s decision to close inpatient and emergency services in Fulton.
Students at Kenney Middle School got a glimpse of career options that use cutting edge technology Wednesday during Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day. GIS Day is held each year on the Wednesday during the National Geographic Society’s Geography Awareness Week. It was the first time that Kenney students have participated in the event.
If residents in the Fulton city school district have opinions about the proposed $23.7 million capital improvement project, they aren’t sharing. Aside from a group of district employees, not even a handful of residents attended a public hearing that was held on the project Wednesday evening at G. Ray Bodley High School.
Beginning this morning, the Oswego County Board of Elections will start to count paper ballots that were submitted for the 2007 General Election. First on deck, the two candidates for the 11th District seat on the Oswego County Legislature will find out if the incumbent’s apparent loss from last week stands. Of the 12 races that will be counted today, the legislative district that primarily covers the town of Volney was the only legislative seat in the lineup.

Having kicked off Friday and continuing through Christmas Eve, the Fulton Salvation Army has launched its annual Red Kettle Campaign. Captain Kevin Brennan said that the donations through the kettle campaign are used primarily to provide a bright Christmas to those who may not have one otherwise.
Representing the only Democratic win in Tuesday’s election for seats on the Fulton Common Council, longtime Third Ward alderman Robert Weston says he is confident that the council will continue to place people before party over the next two years. Weston won his bid for reelection Tuesday against challenger Wayne Hanson by a more than two to one margin. He was the only Democrat to top a GOP candidate for a seat on the common council.
Having made it the majority of the way through the committee process, the county budget recommendations for 2008 have remained largely unchanged from the original plan presented by County Administrator Phil Church at the beginning of October.
