At Monday night’s Administrative Services Committee meeting, councilors paved the way for more road work in the Port City. They gave a favorable recommendation to a request for Change Order No. 1 for additional milling and paving work to be performed under the 2017 Milling and Paving Project in the amount of $227,200 with Riccelli Enterprises. It would increase the cost of the project to $725,200.
In an effort to ensure every child is prepared for school, the United Way of Greater Oswego County held its annual “Stuff a Bus” campaign recently at different bus locations around the county. The school supplies will now be divided among the nine districts in the coming days.

Owner said he’s surprised at the support from the grassroots group. He intends to continue fixing up the property and restoring it to the way it looked around 1900. He’s looking forward to working with the group and finding ways to save the building and appreciates their efforts.
Bart Paura, 79, of Oswego, passed away Wednesday August 16, 2017, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family after a short illness.
Mayor Billy Barlow’s tentative 2018 city operating budget looks to trim personnel and take some financial burden off the taxpayers’ shoulders. Barlow’s budget calls for “a slight property tax increase” (3.6% compared to Fiscal Year 2017). “In this budget, I propose eliminating eight positions from City Hall staff,” the mayor said.
