Crafters To Provide Warmth For Needy
People walking in Oswego’s Breitbeck Park, Washington Square Park, Franklin Park and Fulton’s Great Bear Recreation Area, will find gift packages containing handmade cowls, mittens, hats, ear warmers and scarves hanging from trees and tied to benches. Anyone who finds an item is welcome to take it home – or to pass it along to someone who would like it.
Deadline Nears For Youth Tree Decorating Contest
The deadline for the Youth Bureau’s children’s tree decorating contest is fast approaching. Several of the miniature Christmas trees have been turned in, said Jennifer Losurdo of the Youth Bureau. But, several more are still out there, she added. Children can pick up a 12-inch tree from the Youth Bureau, at the county complex on Bunner Street, decorate it and return it no later than Dec. 13. Prizes (Wal-Mart gift cards) will be awarded to the winner of each age group.

Governor Cuomo Deploys State Resources To Prepare For Lake Effect Snowstorm
Governor Andrew Cuomo today (Dec. 7) directed the Office of Emergency Management, State Police, the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the Office of Fire Prevention and Control, the Department of Transportation and the Thruway Authority to enhance monitoring and prepare to deploy resources for lake effect snow that will impact parts of Western and Northern New York into Central New York and the Mohawk Valley through Saturday morning.

Peaches is a super friendly (and we really aren’t exaggerating) young lady, all ready to go to her forever home. She’s fine with other cats, dogs, and little kids, even bratty ones. She loves chasing little balls around. She’s sleek and elegant and playful and has just a ridiculously long tail along with a very ladylike little meow.
Oswego Ed Center Sale Possible Next Summer
The Oswego Education Center’s move into a section of Leighton Elementary School is getting closer to becoming a reality. With the Education Center up for sale, and potential buyers kicking the tires, district officials are getting things in place to facilitate the move, according to Dr. Dean Goewey, superintendent.
