Oswego Mayor Proposes New Sewer Rate Schedule

The sewer rate schedule that was adopted by the Common Council in December 2015 didn’t create parity between low-volume users and high-volume users, Mayor Billy Barlow said Monday night. “I am recommending a modification to the sewer rate schedule that addresses this disparity,” the mayor said. “Our goal is to alleviate some of the pressure for our homeowners and to get our heavier users to pay their fair share.”

Council Sets Hearing On ‘Pawnbroker Law,’ Fee

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council authorized a public hearing regarding proposed Local Law No. 3 of the Year 2016 – A Local Law Amending Chapter 176, Pawnbrokers, of the Code of the City of Oswego. The public hearing will be held at 7:10 p.m. May 9 in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 13 W. Oneida St.

One Reportedly Killed In I-81 Crash

UPDATE: Victim identified The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning crash that has reportedly claimed at least one life.
The section of I-81 between exits 33 and 34 remains closed as deputies investigate the one-vehicle crash. A pickup truck hit a guardrail and overturned just before 3:15 a.m. today (April 27).
