After Lengthy Debate Council Takes No Action on Herbicide Spraying
Several residents spoke out Monday night against the resolution passed last month allowing the spraying of herbicides in various locations around the Port City. However, the city attorney cautioned the council that an attempt to rescind was “an improper resolution” and would set the city up for financial liability. After a lengthy debate, the council withdrew the resolution to rescind and took no action.

April 2016 Was A Bit On The Cool, Dry Side
The average temperature for April 216 was was 3.6 degrees below average. Total precipitation for the month came in at 1.10 inches below average. Snowfall for April was 3.1 inches above average. But at the end of April, snowfall for the winter was 70.5 inches below normal, Gregway said.

Council Poised To Reconsider Herbicide Vote
Last month, the council voted 5-1-1 to move $12,000 from the Contingency Fund to the 440 Contracted Services Garage Fund for weed control at Wright’s Landing, City Hall, East Linear Park, DPW Garage, east and west side fire stations, Legends Fields and all city parks. Following a public outcry, the vote is being reconsidered.
