Council Tables Charter Change Resolution
Following more than an hour’s worth of discussion Monday night by members of the public as well as city officials, councilors voted unanimously to table a resolution to amend the city charter regarding winter parking restrictions. Therefore, the mayor’s executive order, instituting a winter parking ban (no parking on city streets from 1 to 6 a.m.) remains in place.

Grassroots Effort Ensures Oswego Lighthouse Shines Into The Future
Dozens of local volunteers have put in hundreds of man hours to ensure Oswego’s lighthouse stands tall atop Lake Ontario’s water for years to come. Members of the Oswego Common Council recently heard a report of the group’s labors in 2015.

Ralph B. “Rapid Ralph” Denson Jr., 82, a resident of State Route 3 in Sandy Creek, passed away Friday January 22, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Syracuse.

This little mare is Indy. Her tattoo name is Saratoga Dolly. She is very good with kids and other animals. She’s about 15.2 hands. She is good with the vet and farrier, and good in a stall or run in shed.

Oswego County Receives Approval to Proceed With Establishment of Land Bank
The County of Oswego was informed today (Jan. 21) that the Board of Directors for New York State’s Empire State Development Corporation has approved the county’s application to establish a land bank as part of its efforts to combat the decline of housing stock and housing values throughout their various communities.

Committees Approve Public Space Use, Fee Permit Applications
The council’s committees gave a favorable recommendation to several requests to use public space, as well as a tent, vendor carts, and propane inspection and permit fee for anyone operating in public space. The resolutions were forwarded to the full council for action next week.
