The funding had originally been earmarked for the fire department to help cover the expense of them taking on the responsibilities of the code enforcement office. While councilors agreed to transfer the funds now, they also put the fire department on notice that it has to continue to find ways to keep decreasing its amount of overtime in the future.
Merit awards, senior scholarships/awards and numerous memorial scholarships were presented as well as incentive scholarships to area colleges and universities. More than 250 scholarships/awards were presented to Oswego High School students, amounting to almost $800,000.

Julian Ross couldn’t go to DisneyWorld — so a cadre of volunteers brought DisneyWorld to Oswego. He was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma in 2011, when he was just 6 years old. In early March of this year, he was put on Hospice care.
Madeline and her babies were unceremoniously “evicted” from their “home,” so to speak, and then rescued by kind-hearted strangers. We can’t imagine why anyone would not want to keep Madeline close by! She is a total snuggle bug and will curl up in your arms and gaze at you adoringly. Who would not want that?

The economic development organization presented its annual activity summary and achievement awards. Three business organizations, a successful entrepreneur and a long-standing economic development advocate were honored for significant contributions to economic development and job creation in Oswego County.
The average temperature was 45.3 degrees. That is just 0.4-degree above average. The precipitation was down. Spring came in at 7.66 inches. That’s 2.19 inches below average. The area has been running a deficit (this year), but June will likely do a lot to close the gap.
