State Police in Pulaski today (June 11) are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Pathfinder Bank located at 3361 Main St., Mexico. A white male entered the Pathfinder Bank at approximately 1:35 p.m., handed the teller a note and left the bank on foot. The suspect is described as 6′ tall, 170 pounds, with a mustache and facial hair.
Oswego Mayor Tom Gillen has announced that Branch Commercial, a Malone, NY-based hotel development company, will begin construction in the next two weeks of a new, 81-room Holiday Inn Express and Suites in the City of Oswego. The site of the new Holiday Inn Express is located adjacent and to the north of the Ruby Tuesday restaurant on Route 104, east of the downtown business corridor.

At the Fulton Community Revitalization Corporation meeting held on recently, Mayor Ron Woodward who also serves as chair to the FCRC, announced the plan for the goal to reuse Stevenson Beach and the public access of Lake Neatahwanta (“little lake by the big lake”).
On May 30, Oswego Boxing Club’s Billy Meggison traveled two hours to Gouverneur to make his amateur boxing debut. He was joined by fellow OBC member Lindsay Demling.
Meggison earned a hard-fought unanimous decision victory. Demling lost a tough fight, but her effort did not go unnoticed.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum has announced that the Columbus Foundation replica tall ships Nina and Pinta visit to Oswego has been cancelled. “Unfortunately, the ships will not be able to visit the historic port of Oswego this June due to construction work under way on the Oswego breakwall and the required staging on the west pier,” said Mercedes Niess, the museum’s executive director.
Assemblyman Will Barclay today (June 10) announced that he is circulating a petition to garner public support for legislation (A5454a) that would help ban synthetic drug sales in retail stores and toughen penalties against sales and use – putting them more on par with penalties akin to illegal narcotics. Oswego County Clerk Michael Backus announced today (June 9) that there will be a temporary change in operations at all three of the county Department of Motor Vehicle offices. Each office will have limited window service available to the public one day a week, beginning the week of June 15.
At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council approved use of public space for the Ross family. Julian Ross was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma on August 4, 2011. He was put on Hospice care this spring. Julian will be coming home soon and his family requested use of the park pavilion to honor their son.
