Nearly a dozen speakers Monday night told Oswego councilors the city’s odd-even overnight parking policy is doing more harm than good. The majority urged city officials to do away with the policy. Councilors took no action on the matter. However, it will be a topic of further discussions for a long time.
A long way from home town of Salina, Kansas, Mille Dillmount (Alexia Abelgore) sets out for an adventure in New York City. Her story is told in the energetic Broadway musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, which plays this weekend (March 5-7) in Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium.
February 2015 was cold – really cold. But it wasn’t the coldest on record, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature last month was 14.1 degrees. That is 11.3 degrees below average. “That’s pretty darn cold; but, we weren’t as cold as inland places like Syracuse,” Gregway said. “We didn’t have any big below zero readings like they did. Lake Ontario actually helped keep us warmer.”
The shelter, located at Laker Hall on the SUNY Campus, for those Oswego residents experiencing frozen water services will close at 5 p.m. today (March 1). The water station, located at the East Side Fire Station, will remain in service until all city water services are back in working order.
Mitzi is a dark calico cat, about one year old. The picture doesn’t do her justice. She has beautiful markings and great soulful eyes. Her looks are matched by her personality. She is a very friendly cat, always seeking and enjoying attention.
During the regular session of Monday’s Oswego School Board meetint, the board approved the Oswego Middle School French Club trip to Montreal for June 6-7 and a textbook for the Modern Novels course at the Oswego High School.
