Only two residents voiced concerns about the program at the public hearing. In other business, the council paved the way for this year’s farmers’ market, approved a request to repair the centrifuge at the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant, and handled several other resolutions.
UPDATE 1:30 p.m. Feb 27: Port City Opens Water Station For Those In Need
The City of Oswego has opened a water station at the East Side Fire Station, 35 E. Cayuga St., for those residents who are experiencing frozen water services. Those effected may obtain potable water at anytime by using the East Seneca Street entrance of the fire station. Residents must bring their own containers.
The shelter opened by the American Red Cross at Laker Hall on the campus of SUNY Oswego Wednesday night will remain open at least through Sunday.

Student redistricting has been a long-term concern for the Oswego City School District and administration is attempting to alleviate the massive differences between the elementary schools. However, because one school possesses a state labeled “focus” title, the redistricting effort is a little more difficult.

Councilors agree the current alternate day policy isn’t working that well for residents and the DPW as well. A 24-hour parking ban could be the way to go in the future, councilors said Monday night. There will be further discussion before a final policy is brought forward.
