Several volunteers, young and old, assist the Fulton VFW Post #569 and Fulton American Legion in honoring locally buried veterans. On Sunday, they placed flags at the graves of many veterans. It was also a vivid local history lesson for many involved.
“Witnessing a child’s face light up from seeing a hill or cow for the first time can truly be a humbling and inspiring experience,” Fresh Air host Lisa Hall said. “It’s something frequently felt through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program.” Each summer, more than 4,000 children visit volunteer host families in rural, suburban and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.

The Oswego County Legislature is considering reducing operation of its transfer stations by one day. Even though it wasn’t on Thursday’s agenda, legislators got an earful during the public session following the meeting. Several residents spoke out against any changes to the stations’ operations.
