Annual Independence Parade Draws Huge Crowd to Bridge Street

A large crowd lined Bridge Street on Sunday afternoon to take in the 2013 edition of Oswego’s Independence Celebration Parade.Crowds on both sides of the river were treated to a variety of music, classic cars and many other patriotic floats. Leading the way was the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers.

Oswego Police Announce Parade Information

In preparation for the 2013 Independence Day Parade, to be held on Sunday, the Oswego Police Department  wishes to  announce the following traffic advisories and general information including – The  city of Oswego’s Open Container Ordinance, which prohibits the possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a public place, will remain in effect throughout this event.

Wilcox/Glenister family continues to fight EEE

The Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox Foundation’s recent efforts raised more than $2,000. The family wants to make sure the public is educated about EEE, so that no other family has to go through what they have. The ultimate goal is to one day have a vaccine available to the general public. The deadly virus took the life of the foundation’s Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox in the fall of 2011.

Oswego County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division Staff Complete Civil Training Program

Twenty-five deputy sheriffs and civilian staff working in the civil law enforcement divisions from 18 sheriff’s offices around the state  recently attended a week-long continuing training program at the office of the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute in Albany.
