Oswego High School spring athletes proved once again that sports and academics combine quite well. Numerous teams earned the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete recognition for their classroom accomplishments.

June 2013 may have been warm and humid, but that didn’t translate into a warmer than average month. The average temperature last month was a rather muggy 65.1 degrees. But, as things turned out, that was 0.2-degree cooler than average, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.
The department has a FEMA Grant of $149,538 and more than $23,000 in other funding. However, it is still nearly $30,000 shy of being able to make the purchase. The council will consider putting up the money if the department can find ways to pay it back.

Board member Lynda Sereno resigned her seat on the board following the board’s vote Monday night regarding designation of the official newspapers for the district. She also cited other concerns that prevented her from continuing “on with the fight and the vision that I had.”
