Tom Knight, a singer, songwriter, puppeteer and more was a recent guest visitor at Sandy Creek Elementary where he performed for several classes at the school. His songs, in a variety of musical styles, appeal to the students while carrying an important message within.
G. Ray Bodley High School recently named Jacob Geitner and Madison Lang as the Class of 2018 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
Under the direction of physical education teacher Kristine Earley, the students learned the focus, discipline and attention to detail required for improving personal accuracy and consistency in archery.
Shawn Parkhurst, Mexico Academy and Central School District aquatics coordinator and Varsity Boys’ Swimming and Diving head coach, said the district is proud of its students who have succeeded in hundreds of meets and championship events from 1993-2018.
Select students in Julia Boots’ second grade classroom at Fairley Elementary School closed their eyes and were asked by a guest presenter to take a look around.
Students who have done an outstanding job throughout the month of April at Volney Elementary School were recently honored with Principal’s Awards and On-a-Roll certificates.
Participants, led by naturalist Pat Carney, will meander about the woodland exploring Wake-Robin, Goldthread, Cowslip, and others whose common names and stories are as colorful as their blossoms.
Palermo Elementary students learned a valuable lesson from guest presenter Dennis Pullen: we all can be different and the same. Noticeable differences with Pullen and the students in grades kindergarten through four included his wheelchair, breathing device and lack of mobility. But, similarities far outweighed those three.
Music was in the air at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School recently as performer Biboti Ouikahilo presented an African drumming workshop. The multi-talented artist showed off his skills and taught seventh and eighth graders his trade.
