The Mexico Academy & Central School District’s Learn to Swim program has made a splash with hundreds of participants this summer. From June 5 through Aug. 18, 500 eager swimmers will have attended one or more of the two-week sessions, which take place for 45 minutes Mondays to Fridays.
Each time The Butler Did It Players performs the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, they donate a portion of the proceeds from their photo booth to a local charity. For their September 30 show at The Kallet Theater, they have chosen to donate the proceeds to the Salmon River Hockey Association.
Public nature programs at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will continue into the fall. Also scheduled are the following creative Nature Inspires programs.
Karen Murray, Executive Director of Bishop’s Commons at St. Luke in Oswego has received the 2017 Carl S. Young Advocacy Award from LeadingAge New York. It is given to an active LeadingAge New York member who has demonstrated exceptional advocacy and leadership on behalf of aging services, commitment to advancing the association’s legislative goals and actively encourages others to advocate for the elderly.
The 20th edition of the popular St. Luke-Francis Boyce Memorial Charity Golf Tournament tees off on August 12 at Battle Island Golf Course. With great prizes and a great crowd, the four-person Captain and Crew format attracts both serious and novice golfers alike. No matter your skill level, the event promises to be another fun-filled day for all participants.
Fulton Shirts ‘N Skirts Square Dance Club is a modern western square dance club that was founded in 1954 as a social activity to promote square dancing and is still active in the square dance community today. The club has more than 50 members and dance every Friday night at the Fulton Municipal Building.
As part of the Department of Transportation’s biannual bus inspection program, the district’s vehicles were examined by state inspectors who looked for potential violations. The inspections included a review of paperwork, mechanical areas and safety measures.
Summer Heat” with Syracuse City Ballet, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at Pulaski’s Kallet Theater just got a whole lot hotter. Joining the company will be special guest artists Claire Rathbun and Zachary Downer, both currently starring in the new Broadway production of “Cats.”
New York Sea Grant and New York State Parks have partnered to educate dog owners this summer by providing copies of the Dogs and Harmful Algal Blooms fact sheet and brochure developed by New York Sea Grant at several State Parks. Harmful algal blooms, HABs, are a result of toxins produced by some cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae.
