With the end of the 2016-17 school year approaching, local story reader Jim McKenna encouraged Volney Elementary students to remember one thing: good books are everywhere. He emphasized emotion and actions as he read aloud the first chapter of “How to Steal a Dog” by Barbara O’Connor and a couple of short stories to students in grades kindergarten through six.

June 8-9 Great Lakes Crude Oil Transport Webinars Open to Public

Crude oil travels through the Great Lakes Basin by rail, truck, and barge. On Thursday, June 8, at 1 p.m. and Friday, June 9, at 8 a.m., the public can listen in by webinar as the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network, Great Lakes Commission, International Joint Commission, and Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative host a symposium on crude oil transport.
