Students from Cheri Iannotti’s class joined their peers from two Rochester schools to solve a mock crime that took place on the Erie Canal. The three classes interacted with Erie Canal experts to learn about the canal and they worked together to interrogate four suspects to determine who stole a missing ring.

Oswego’s Revival Continues To Grow

Historic downtown Oswego may have seen better days, but the mayor has a vision for the revitalization of its future. “We have a downtown that is rather dense,” Oswego Mayor William Barlow said. “We have some strong buildings that just need a little help. We have buildings that need to be renovated and vacant lots that need to be developed.” Some of these areas are being developed currently from different individuals and privately owned businesses.

Bodley Students Receive NYSED Scholarships

The New York State Education Department recently honored seven G. Ray Bodley High School students with college scholarships because of their academic achievement. Each recipient received an award letter from NYSED Commissioner MaryElen Elia, who joined the New York State Board of Regents in congratulating the GRB students on their success.

Zonta Selects Billie Crandall Brady for 2017 Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award

For 32 years, the Zonta Club of Oswego has presented the prestigious Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award to a woman who has dedicated herself to her community and who serves as a role model for young women. This year, the 33rd Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award recipient is the late Billie Crandall Brady, who served the community tirelessly for more than 28 years.
