Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women, with one in eight women developing breast cancer in her lifetime. Because of barriers to service, women with disabilities tend to receive fewer breast exams and mammograms and are nearly one-third more likely to die from it compared to women without disabilities.
The Pulaski Middle/Senior High School held a special Honors Recognition Dinner for students and their families to recognize outstanding academic achievement in the 2013-14 school year. Students who maintained a 95 or better average for the entire academic school year were honored and presented with achievement pins that featured a shield symbolizing knowledge to signify the special honor.
Pulaski students Audrey Monson and Brittany VanDuzer participated in the First Inaugural Honors Choir Festival at Roberts Wesleyan College.
“Learning is a lifelong endeavor,” or so the saying goes, and residents at St. Francis Commons in Oswego are proving this to be true! A dedicated group has begun taking piano lessons from an equally committed college student who is providing individualized music instruction to her pupils.

The Oswego County Academic Youth League’s first competition of the school year took place recently with an overall theme – Healthy Living: The Teenage Years; but more specifically a subject that seems particularly significant to teens – texting while driving. The results of the competition found the team from Mexico High School in first place.
What started with a conversation among friends years ago at St. Luke Health Services has now become a much anticipated annual event when a group of employees from Eagle Beverage Inc., made their annual visit to residents at St. Luke Health Services and brought along some beer and other specialty beverages for residents to sample and enjoy, along with a few mementos of the occasion as well.
Kindergarten students from Fairley Elementary School in the Hannibal School District visited the Hannibal Fire Company during Fire Prevention Month in October. The students toured the local volunteer fire department and learned about fire safety.
On November 7, Paul Foster will be honored at the Friends of History Annual Celebration Dinner. Paul has a life-long commitment to both Fulton and to Oswego County. Paul is the third generation owning and operating the Foster Funeral Home in Fulton. He has been active in various community centered organizations that serve our community.
