The New York State Homes and Community Renewal Office of Community Renewal has announced that the city of Oswego has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the Affordable Housing Corporation.
The city will receive the maximum amount available to a small city to rehabilitate 18 units of existing housing in Oswego.
Kaylee Schreyer and Rachael Thormann have earned outstanding distinctions as the top two students of the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Senior High School Class of 2014. For the pair, the race to the top was more about friendship than winning “She’s my best friend,” Thormann said with Schreyer adding, “It was never about competing against each other.”
Students in first-year teacher Danielle Bovay’s class at Granby Elementary recently celebrated the end of the year with a fiesta themed party. The fourth graders and their families enjoyed Mexican food, dancing and spent time looking over portfolios that showcased student work.
With the support of Lombardo’s Bridie Manor, The Buc Parent League will be hosting an “All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast” on June 29 from 8 a.m. until noon. The Buc parents and students will be serving a menu of pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, mixed fruit, pastries along with your choice of beverages.
ARISE is pleased to announce a new event for Oswego County. This fall we will be hosting our first annual “Light up the Night” run. The run will start at dusk and runners-walkers are encouraged to use their wildest imagination to light themselves up – use of glow sticks and lights is strongly encouraged!
Novelis expects that the National Labor Relations Board will file a 10(j) injunction in the coming days in an attempt to order the company to bargain with the United Steelworkers. Novelis strongly disagrees with this action.
The Oswego Children’s Theater’s latest production, “Shrek the Musical,” is a family affair in a couple of ways. First, it tells the story of two young people abandoned by their families; but OCT’s production of the show involves families in quite another way, in that many members of the cast and crew are related to each other.
Special guests from various professions filled both the primary and intermediate wings at Granby. There were police officers, a flight attendant and pilot, hair stylist, judge, nurse, farmer, business owner, athletic trainer, ballet teacher, massage therapist, safety trainer and banker.
Twenty-two students from Phoenix’s Emerson J. Dillon Middle School finished the school year earning distinguished honors from the school’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.
