Earlier this month, the Fairley Fun Runners of Fairley Elementary School were happy to hear Pennellville resident, Ruth Ripley, share with them her experience of running marathons in every state. Ripley is the second women in New York State to have run a marathon in every state. Ripley’s visit ties in with a history unit on women of change.
One of the greatest fears that our aging population faces is: “how long will I be able to maintain my freedom and be able to choose to remain living in my own home before I am forced to leave?” This very real fear is more and more common among our aging population. This same challenge is faced by some people with disabilities every day.
The St. Luke Adult Day Health Care Program hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive, which took place at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. St. Luke staff and visitors took part in the blood drive, donating “the gift of life.”
