Operation Safe Stop Education and Enforcement Day set for April 3

On April 3, the Sandy Creek Transportation Department along with law enforcement personnel from across the state will participate in Operation Safe Start. At 2:30 p.m. Department of Transportation Supervisor Robin Cashel will share information, statistics and penalties associated with traffic violations and accidents involving passing a stopped school bus.

Dillon students learn Mithila painting techniques

Students became artists at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School recently when renowned Indian folk artist Rani Jha stopped by for a demonstration. Jha, who was visiting America for the first time, discussed the history of Mithila painting. She told students that the artwork was once created by women on the walls of their houses.

The New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame proudly announces that its class of inductees for 2014 will include Fran Verdoliva of Mexico. Verdoliva will be honored at the annual banquet April 26 in Canastota. Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and Entergy to Replace Emergency Siren System

Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and Entergy Nuclear will be upgrading the public warning system that CENG operates and that serves Oswego County’s nuclear facilities. The new sirens will sound at a volume similar to the old ones and the new warning system is expected to be tested the same number of times per year as the old system. This project will involve a total investment of more than $1.5 million.
