The Fairley Elementary School cafeteria was transformed into an Iroquois village Wednesday night as fourth-grade students showcased homemade longhouses, recipe books, a lacrosse stick and other aspects of Native American culture.
CNY Arts Center announces the debut of two youth productions onstage November 22 and 23 with Drama Club and Kids Onstage. Both groups have been meeting weekly since mid-September and will present to parents, family and friends in separate performances. Both presentations are pay-what-you-can performances open to the public in lieu of tickets and take place at 357 State St., in Fulton (use the Park Street entrance).
On November 9, the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology hosted the annual Build ’Em and Bust ’Em Bridge Building Competition for 600 pupils from local elementary, middle and high schools throughout Central New York. Working during study halls and after school, student teams designed and built balsa wood bridges in the Kenney Middle School Technology Education classroom under the direction of technology teacher Gregory Bailey.
Residents at Bishop’s Commons have been “Exploring Art” with the help of SUNY Oswego Art Program students. Established last year, the SUNY/Senior “Exploring Art” program has grown in popularity among residents who have had the opportunity to either renew their interest in creative art, or simply try something new.
Hannibal Central School District officials have been exploring a variety of options to provide immediate communication with families when issues arise, and soon a new tool will be in place that will provide the mass communication service that the district has been seeking. During a meeting Wednesday evening, school board members reviewed the new communication tool, Global Connect.
Students in the Fulton City School District proved their marketing prowess as they took home top honors during the second Oswego County Academic Youth League competition of the year on Wednesday.

“What would happen if someone came into your school and told you that you had to move to another school and you would not be allowed to come back here ever again?” was the question posed to fifth graders at Lura Sharp Elementary when members of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse visited the school recently.
This Friday the Sunshine Center in Fulton will begin ZumbaDance on Fridays at 10 a.m. This Friday, Jessica Shoults will be the instructor.
Sophomore Bailey Waterbury and junior Georgia Traynor each earned First Team honors, transfer junior Tia Segretto was placed on Second Team while senior Nikki Liadka and junior Bri Dolan nabbed Third Team accolades. Also being earned for the Lakers is head coach Brian McGrane, who earned Coach of the Year in his seventh season at the helm.
