Great Lakes Seaway Trail Named to Bucket List of Great Motorcycle Rides

The Great Lakes Seaway Trail has been named a RoadRUNNER Magazine Bucket List Road for great motorcycle rides. The motorcycle touring and travel magazine cites the expansive views of lakes Erie and Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, the 1000 Islands, Niagara Falls, historic sites and birdwatching among the virtues of riding the 518-mile Great Lakes Seaway Trail National Scenic Byway on two motorized wheels.

Cayuga CC Board of Trustees approves $30.3 million budget for 2013-14, moves on to county for action

At its regular monthly meeting tonight (June 26), the Cayuga Community College Board of Trustees approved the College’s 2013-14 budget, which includes a 3.5 percent, or approximately $140 a year, increase in tuition. The 2013-14 annual tuition will be $4,090 for full-time students, and the part-time rate will be $165 per credit.

Legislator: It’s Time To Rebid County Contract

At the last county legislature meeting, I asked if the contract with IQS is going to be rebid. Like always, there was no answer. The contract expires in August and it can either be rebid or extended to IQS for another year. If it’s rebid, we have a real opportunity to save the taxpayers a significant amount of money.

Former ‘Lost Boy’ Connects Real-Life to Learning at FJHS

Through the Expeditionary Learning’s Common Core ELA Curriculum, FJHS students read the novel A Long Walk to Water and learned about a world that is on the continent of Africa, in the country of South Sudan, and during a time when children as young as six fled their villages and left their parents to escape war and starvation. In conjunction with the novel and classroom activities, former ‘Lost Boy’ Chol Majok was invited to share some of his personal experience with the students during a recent visit.
