Creative Caregivers

The Creative Caregivers Club made holiday gift baskets and donated them to churches in Mexico and Pulaski. Pictured from left are Chuck and Stella McCabe and Pastor Bill Palmer of the Mexico Methodist Church. Sponsored by the Oswego County Office for the Aging, Creative Caregivers is a support group for people who provide care to a loved one over the age of 60 who suffers from chronic illness. The group meets at 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at the Salvation Army Building, 73 W. Second St., Oswego.  All are welcome to attend. There is no charge to participate. For information contact the Oswego County Office for the Aging at 349-3484.The Creative Caregivers Club made holiday gift baskets and donated them to churches in Mexico and Pulaski.

‘Twas the Day Before Christmas Vacation at Parish Elementary School

Parish Elementary School first grade student Nyah Pinzer joins music teacher Michele Catania in leading the entire school in singing Deck The Halls. PES students spent the day before Christmas vacation participating in various quiet reading activities and then came together as an entire school community to sing Christmas carols.Coined as a Drop Everything And Read or D.E.A.R. Day, students along with faculty were invited to wear their pajamas to school and bring a snuggle buddy or stuffed toy from home along with a book.

Oswego County Legislature Recognizes Chairman

Members of the Oswego County Legislature bid farewell to their chairman at the close of their December meeting. Legislature Vice Chairman John Proud presented a plaque to Chairman Barry D. Leemann after expressing sincere appreciation for his dedicated service to the people of Oswego County. Leemann worked for the residents of District 4 for ten years and served as Chairman of the Legislature for the past four. A staunch advocate for energy conservation, Leemann created the Oswego County ‘Green Team’ which led efforts to help the county reduce its carbon footprint and save taxpayers’ money.
