Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County still has openings for its Summer Shooting Sports Rifle Program which will be held Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., beginning August 24 at North Sportsmans Club, West Monroe.
A special election is scheduled for July 25, from noon to 8 p.m. at Oswego Town Hall to vote on resolutions to consider bond issues for the purchase of highway equipment. These resolutions will establish the creation of long-term bonds for payments, rather than using ordinary bank loans.
Hands-on opportunities and academic strengths contributed to SUNY Oswego being ranked fourth recently in College Magazine’s “Top 10 Colleges for Broadcast Journalism.” Oswego’s facilities include “three fully equipped state-of-the-art digital TV studios plus audio/radio production labs and recording studios,” the magazine said. “Students work hands-on in class and student-run groups,” including WTOP-10 TV, WNYO radio and The Oswegonian, the article noted.
Longley Brothers Dodge has teamed up with the city of Fulton to co-sponsor the Fulton Jazz Festival kickoff 7 p.m., August 10 with the Easy Money Big Band. Admission for this event and the entire festival is free.
There are still openings in the Hannibal Central School District’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for the upcoming school year. Children must be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2017, to be eligible to attend UPK.
Per Harborfest policy, “Smoking is not permitted in any tented areas. We strongly discourage smoking in all of the festival’s venues. Tobacco will not be sold in any of the festival’s venues.” Tobacco-free policies improve the health of our community as well as encourage smoking cessation.
The 30th annual Oswego Harborfest is proud to have Catskill Puppet Theater workshop and the T-shirt making workshops return for this year’s festival. These workshops offer a unique opportunity for festival-goers to create and learn through hands-on activities.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
In August, a course that outlines how to use Overdrive online and through their app will be available on August 9 from 2-4 p.m. There will also be a separate class on downloading content onto Kindle e-reader devices on August 24 from 2-4 p.m.
