The Phoenix high school auditorium was abuzz with laughter, talent and excitement recently as nine John C. Birdlebough students vied for the title of “Mr. Phoenix.” The sixth annual pageant featured contestants in ninth through 12th grades who competed in different activities.
An overnight package, courtesy of the Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront in Oswego, will be one of many prizes up for grabs during the annual “Bundle of Bucks” Charity Raffle Drawing Party taking place on May 6. In addition to the prize giveaways, the raffle will award cash prizes totaling $25,000 among 15 lucky winners.

SUNY Oswego’s annual iron pour, a fiery collaboration April 13, between the college’s art and technology departments, will add an outdoor pit-firing of ceramic work a day earlier. Art faculty member Sara Prigodich and students in her advanced ceramics classes will demonstrate pit-firing techniques from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 12.

ARC of Oswego County announces its inaugural pancake breakfast event on April 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hosted by Red Schoolhouse Maple, 2437 County Route 4, Fulton, the breakfast will include pure maple syrup, orange juice, sausage, coffee and their famous pancakes.
To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.
Five students from Michael A. Maroun Elementary School will have their artwork on display throughout April at the Beaver Lake Nature Center. The exhibit features student-submitted work from elementary-age children representing districts across the region.
Queenie is one of the Boylston Sweet 16 – really happy to be in a place where the roof stays up. But, she would love a roof of her own where she could hold court. She is about six months old, likes other cats, warms up to new people easily, and has been around a dog in her foster home with no issues.
