During a recent school day at Oswego Middle School, half of the seventh grade population was asked to fill in the blank to “I Am ____________.” The activity was presented as part of the newly introduced seventh grade advisory sections that have taken the place of one study hall during the day for seventh graders.
On September 30, the students within the Fulton City School District in grades UPK – 12 will have an early dismissal. Grades 7 – 12 will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. and morning Pre K – 6 will dismiss at 11:15 a.m.
There wasn’t a single parking space left at the Volney Elementary School open house, where students had the opportunity to give their families a tour of the building and introduce them to their teacher.
He is a cuddler, a greeter of guests, a champion napper and all around entertainer. He loves grownups, kids, other cats, dogs. From his beginnings as a terrified kitten hiding under an abandoned trailer, he has come totally out of his shell and is just a delight.
The students at Trinity Catholic School excel at the rigors of the classroom. But, the school is teaching more than academics. Last Spring, the students, under the direction of parent Kristen Kelly, began composting their waste from the cafeteria. This waste was brought to the Oswego West Side Community Garden.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau anticipates the availability of limited funding for youth development programs in 2017. Not-for-profit organizations have until Nov. 7 to apply for grant funds through the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
The Oswego County Office for the Aging has scheduled three public hearings to receive input on its proposed plan of services for seniors during the period beginning April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.
The Pulaski Historical Society will join in the activities celebrating the Salmon River Festival. Enjoy the old-fashioned fun, and fishing-related games and refreshments. The museum will also be open for free tours.
State Senator Patty Ritchie honored two local seniors for their contributions to their communities recently at her annual Oswego County Senior Health and Wellness Fair. Those honored included Oswego County Legislator Jack Proud and Suzy Beyer, a longtime volunteer with RSVP of Oswego County.
