The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund will launch its annual fundraising campaign this fall with a goal of reaching and surpassing $15,000 in donations to be matched by the John Ben Snow Memorial Trust.
“Four thirteen,” a group for Christian parents of GLBTQ children, has been launched by Lakeside Christian Ministries in Fulton. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the home of Pastor Chuck and Betsy Copps, 38 Bakeman St., Fulton.
Sandy Creek Central School District students now know what to do in case of an emergency evacuation at the school. With coordination from local businesses, municipalities and fire departments, an evacuation drill was held Sept. 18.
On September 28, Chris Reis, District Deputy Grand Master, for the Oswego District made his official visit to Scriba Masonic Lodge No. 414. Thirty-six Masons from several Oswego district lodges were in attendance.
Granby sixth graders celebrated becoming rocket scientists by blasting cardboard rockets above the school’s field. Before the launch, students spent time learning components of rockets and what makes them take off. Rocket kits used included the following parts: engine mounts, fins, igniter, body tube and launch lug.
Along with firefighters and safety advocates nationwide, the Oswego Fire Department is joining forces with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association during Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10, to remind local residents about the importance of having working smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home, including the basement.
Here in Oswego County 13 people are diagnosed with cancer and 5 die from cancer each week. Female breast cancer accounts for 11.4% of all cancer cases and 5.2% of all cancer deaths. For Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program those are unacceptable numbers that they are dedicated to reducing.
The Hannibal Central School District recently welcomed new staff.
On Oct. 8 from 5 – 8 p.m., any Volney resident who orders a Domino’s pizza may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine.
