The legendary Fort Ontario molasses cookie, remembered by many visitors during the 1960s and 1970s, will make its return to the old stone fort in Oswego on June 14. A complimentary molasses cookie will be served to the first 200 visitors with admission to the fort.
Applications are now being accepted for the Muriel Allerton Scholarship Award given each year by the Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County. Graduating high school seniors throughout the county who are planning to continue their education in a communications-related field are invited to apply for the $500 prize.
Watch the arts come to life at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum on West First Street Pier in Oswego this summer. The project, “Cloning Neptune: Recreating a Masterpiece” with Don Gillespie, celebrates Oswego’s rich art heritage. It kicks off in late June and runs all summer.
Through a writing contest at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation, six deaf/hard-of-hearing students recently won vibrating alarm clocks. The students wrote persuasive essays about why they could benefit from a vibrating alarm clock.

Ten new certified medical assistants will join the health field as a result of completing the Certified Medical Assisting program through the Center for Career and Community Education, a community collaborative between Cayuga Community College and the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will meet on Tuesday. The monthly committee meetings will be followed by a regular meeting.
Join the Cleveland Historical Society for a free tour of the Wood family’s large farm museum on Thursday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. The museum is located at 770 County Route 17 in Bernhards Bay.
“Unfortunately, the ships will not be able to visit the historic port of Oswego this June due to construction work under way on the Oswego breakwall and the required staging on the west pier,” said Mercedes Niess, the museum’s executive director.
To receive Dean’s List honors, full-time students must earn at least a 3.25 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
