Hannibal resident Gary D. Thompson Jr. is making a run for Hannibal Town Council. My goal if elected is to bring life back into Hannibal, give people a reason to stay within the community and give people a reason to come in. The reality is, it will be harder to hold the line on our taxes if there is no revenue being created, he said.
An initiative sponsored by the American Red Cross, Holiday Mail for Heroes collects holiday cards, personally signed by donors, to distribute to soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines at military bases, veterans’ hospitals and other locations to let them know they are remembered and appreciated back home.
More than 150 students and faculty walked through the pouring rain to assist United Way in its mission to end hunger, help youth succeed and improve the overall health and well-being of Oswego County. Organized by Vega, the Women’s Junior/Senior Honor Society, the walk-a-thon raised $745.
Halloween came a little early to Morningstar Residential Care Center as residents enjoyed a costume party and luncheon with family and friends. The party is the first of many Halloween themed activities that Morningstar Residential Care has planned for its residents.

New York State Law requires that youths ages 10 through 17 successfully complete an eight-hour Young Snowmobile Operator Safety Course and be in possession of a Safety Certificate before they can legally operate a snowmobile.
Four students from the Pulaski Academy and Central School District will be participating in the Oswego County Music Educators’ Association Elementary All County Chorus ensemble on November 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mexico Middle School.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women, with one in eight women developing breast cancer in her lifetime. Because of barriers to service, women with disabilities tend to receive fewer breast exams and mammograms and are nearly one-third more likely to die from it compared to women without disabilities.
Kevin Carpenter, disaster program manager for the American Red Cross local, was a recent guest of Danielle Hayden, club member of Oswego Rotary. Carpenter spoke about the process for the Red Cross being dispatched during an emergency, fire, spill or disaster.
