The H Lee White Marine Museum, located in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District on the West First Street Pier, is pleased to announce Stargazers Night set for 7 p.m. on October 3. The museum and Treasure Chest Gift Shop will be open at 6:30 p.m. prior to the program. Join us for a night of stargazing, featuring John Rusho adjunct professor of Astronomy at SUNY Oswego.

Tom Decker is a student at the Syracuse Environmental Science and Forestry School and is working towards his Environmental Engineering degree. Tom received a Paul Harris Award at a Rotary district conference for his work in the rural Andean mountains of Peru. He spoke to the Fulton Rotarians about his project to electrify a small village of 30 homes in Peru.

In preparation of the National Fire Prevention Week October 5 – 11, the Oswego Fire Department will host an open house on October 4 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Oswego Fire Department headquarters, located at 35 E. Cayuga St., will be open to the public for tours and safety demonstrations.

Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc., announces the expansion of pediatric services at its Pulaski Health Center. NOCHSI recruited pediatrician Megan Pecha, MD, in September 2013. Dr. Pecha practiced at NOCHSI’s Sandy Creek School-Based Health Center during the 2013-2014 school year. She is now building her pediatric practice at the Pulaski Health Center.

The fall rummage sale at the Minetto United Methodist Church will be on October 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and October 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. October 4 will be $3 a bag day.

With high standards and a passion for education, Pulaski Academy and Central School District Superintendent Brian Hartwell hopes to build on the strong foundation established by his predecessors. Hartwell started his duties as the district’s leader in August, taking over for longtime Superintendent Dr. Marshall Marshall, who retired after a distinguished career.

Looking Glass Events, a boutique event planning business, just opened in Fair Haven. We plan all events, from birthday parties to weddings.

September is National Preparedness Month and staff at St. Luke Health Services, St. Francis Commons and Bishop’s Commons recently completed annual emergency and safety training exercises across the healthcare campus. Russell Phillips & Associates, a Rochester-based consulting firm with expertise in fire and disaster preparation and prevention provided the training.
