Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Teaching Kittens To Play Nice

I just adopted a new kitten, Harry. He is coal black, totally handsome, and was the last of his litter to be adopted. I think he must have been getting bored with no litter mates to play with because he seems to think I am his new litter mate, which I guess I am. The only problem is while I love to play with him, he is a little rough – tying to bite me – not in a mean way but it still hurts and he is only eight weeks old. How can I get him to stop?

Youth Bureau Is Recruiting for Local AmeriCorps Programs

“AmeriCorps, a national service program, is known as the domestic Peace Corps,” said Brian Chetney, Youth Bureau Director. “Currently we have openings in Oswego County for 900-hour positions in the Oswego AmeriCorps and the Oswego Economic Development Corps. The positions will vary in length from six to 12 months, depending on the needs of the sponsoring agency.”

DMV Offices will replace Enhanced Driver’s License equipment Aug. 25

Due to the replacement of scanner equipment, the Oswego County DMV branch offices will not be able to process Enhanced Driver’s Licenses on Aug. 25. Oswego County Clerk Michael C. Backus said new and upgraded scanner equipment in the three DMV offices will be installed on Aug. 25. Processing of EDL applications will resume on Aug. 26.

2014 Walk for Life announced

The Pregnancy Care Center of Oswego County announces its annual Walk for Life. On September 14, participants from all across Oswego County will join together in support of life. The 2.5-mile walk will begin at Oswego High School’s parking lot, go right by the Pregnancy Care Center at 140 W. Utica St. and continue across the Utica Street bridge to the Peace Garden for a moment of silence for the babies lost to abortion this past year.

Water Chestnut Pull Deemed A Success

On Aug 2, more than two dozen volunteers participated in the pulling and removal of the invasive water chestnut from areas around the historical Battle Island area of the Oswego River. Volunteers were a diverse group including NY Sea Grant Launch Stewards and people from Jefferson and Onondaga counties – and visitor from Colorado.
