A yearlong school-wide battle for bragging rights at John C. Birdlebough High School culminated with a senior class victory in the Battle of the Classes on March 28 during Spirit Week. Throughout the school year, each class earned points for various service projects and for displaying school spirit.

The students in business faculty member Hong Wan’s “Multinational Financial Management” course are working on a historical-economics analysis to show whether bitcoins are in a phase that makes them ripe for a crash, another upswing or long-haul stability. Bitcoins have fluctuated in value from nearly nothing at their 2009 debut to more than $1,200 in 2013 before sliding recently under $600.

Residents and staff at Bishop’s Commons in Oswego gathered recently to mark the enriched living residence’s 14th anniversary of providing care and services for seniors in the community. A special luncheon helped mark the milestone and afforded staff and residents alike an opportunity to celebrate together.

Kindness, compassion, generosity and good will were in the spotlight during a fifth grade choral performance recently at Sandy Creek Elementary School.The themed musical performance centered on making a difference, with the fifth grade chorus belting out a handful of songs that reflected that message.
